WE'RE SORRY...

...but the blogger you have reached is not in service, please check your blogger and click again...

Miss Vero is so perplexed hunnies, the thing-a-ma-jig on the picture do-hickey is not working, and we do believe that is the proper technical term. We are tired of messin with it, so here's a couple sumthin-sumthins (again, more technical jargon) to keep y'all happy for the content y'all crave.

Or perhaps we'll just call it a little cocktail chatter....

Just to get us in the proper frame of mind, here's a quote attributed to our favorite person of history, Miss Dorothy Parker;

"Martinis are lovely, but two at the most, three, I'm under the table, four, I'm under the host."

Which begs the question "Where is the Algonquin Round Table of Vero Beach?" And of course, Miss Vero will proudly answer, "Why, it's here at the Beach House!"

We sure did get a lot of mail after yesterdays post about the Indian River County Medical Center. A little birdie reminded us of the Indian River Taxpayers meeting next Wednesday, when the featured speaker will be none other that Mr. Jeff Susi! Here's the details, in case any of y'all want to attend. This sounds like a job for the Secret Squirrel:

Hey! What happened to Mr. Ira Hatch and Mr. Damien Gilliams yesterday? They were both scheduled to appear in court (on separate issues). We thought the PJ would be all over those stories. Guess the wacky weed smokin Tater comedian got the courthouse beat ink instead.

Interesting tid bit out of Palm Beach today:

If y'all fail to remember just how this relates to Vero Beach, here's a little reminder:

Sorry kids, but the technical difficulties got the best of us today, we'll try to sort it all out and get back to y'all tomorrow.

HAPPY HANUKKAH!

As y'all know by now Miss Vero loves to celebrate, all holidays are equal in our book. So we just finished up with our first two nights of Hanukkah and now it's time to replenish our supplies.

Honestly, the one thing we truly like about this time of year are the house parties. Holidays seem to have everybody invitin everybody else over to their house for a party. We just wish folks wouldn't limit it to this time of year because this is one tradition that we enjoy. Good thing we got all that nasty seasonal sickness out of the way, because we have need our strength to attend four house parties in four days! Hey, we are not complaining.

Of course we did manage to put on our Ray Bans and get out into the sunshine on Saturday to attend Winter Fest at Pointe West. And what a lovely event it was! Over at the VIP tent we spotted Mr. Wesley Davis and we were told that we had just missed some of the other commissioners that attended. It would have been easy to miss them, because there was a crowd of over 10,000 people there. Yes, that's right TEN THOUSAND! Now wouldn't y'all think that a gatherin of that many joyous, happy festive folks, at an event open to the public, with resources from the county be covered by the PJ? Wouldn't ya? And especially since the Press Journal was a "sponsor" of the event, wouldn't you think they would have some pictures of the happy children frolicking in the snow? Yes, SNOW! We're sure that some staff photographer would have much better photos that the ones Miss Vero snapped with a cellphone. Just sayin...

All right, so here's what Miss Vero would like for Christmas (or Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa or just for the heck of it) - A NEWSPAPER THAT COVERS VERO BEACH! Yes, we know we're yelling, it's intentional.

Now Max Newport loves to talk about Vero history and legal stuff (we'd bet the farm that he's gonna have a field day on January 7th , when both Ira Hatch and Damian Gilliams have court dates) and that suits us fine. While LDouglas reminds us that we should be more environmental aware. But yours truly would just like to pick up a paper or click online and find out what the heck is goin on around this town, from folks who report and not opinionate. Is that too much to ask? It is Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Whatever, after all.

Santa Baby are y'all listening?

SOAP OPERA!

Well children, we bet that y'all are wondering why Miss Vero is not contributin to all the political and gossipy hoopla that the PJ has been churning out lately. But where would we start?

Ira Hatch wants to get out of jail? If there's one thing that anyone who's ever lived in Indian River County knows it's not to get into trouble here. We doubt Mr. Hatch will ever get any sympathy, especially now that he's "indigent" and the public will have to pay for his defense.

Stan Mayfield's annual income listed at $31, 932? Yet his mortgage liabilities are 1 mil. Even with adding his wife's income, of $106,600 the formula for mortgage loan approval is off. And only mortgage liabilities are listed for the couple, no credit cards, car loans, insurance, anything else? Hmmm, we're not a financial planner but something's not right here.

With his Midwestern-weaselly-hot-cup-o-joe-Bob-Evans approach, Russ Lemmon grabs all the limelight in his pot stirring role as the PJ's local columnist, while poor Henry Stephens is out doing all the legwork and actually attending community functions and reporting responsibly.

Election Supervisor candidates Kay Clem and Kathy Hart in a catfight over a shopping trip.

Former Vice Mayor Lynn Larkin's civil suit merits huge coverage (with photo!) because...?

Kenric Ward throws out the delicious cliff hanger in his latest opinion column,da, da, da...Builder and political gadfly Joe Paladin - is a convicted felon. Tune in again for the next exciting episode!

Back in 2006 Tim Pipher was set to do a soap opera called - Vero Beach.

"Set in the southeastern Florida city, the soap will pit the past against the future as the principals of an old agricultural and citrus-based economy clash with the leaders of more modern businesses and influence."

Perhaps a sitch-e-ation comedy would be a better description of our local players.

Miss Vero thinks we should all mix up a batch of bloody marys and sit back and watch the sweeps weeks before the elections.
