WHERE YOU BE?

Have y'all ever been to the bar upstairs at the Szechuan Palace? Maybe y'all should.

Sometimes, when the day goes by fast and appointments and commitments pile up on Miss Vero, we hid out there, it's our secret cocktail hour place.

Had to escape there all afternoon today.

Guess it's not so secret anymore...

I have been there numerous times over the past few years, the "regular" patrons are in a world of their own, like I am invading their "secret place", a bunch of a1 a-holes. I am a regular guy, not a neck, nor do I look any different than the patrons, I have struck up conversations with these un-friendly people, and have never felt more uncomfortable in a social setting in my life. So, you can take your little secret hideaway...........well you know the rest of the story.

Well, I had the opposite experience. I'd heard about this little nugget tucked above the Szechuan Palace, but I was surprised to find... such a dive! I mean, waves of disappointment washed over me as I crossed the room to the bar, a few stolen moments from my familial obligations spent in an atmosphere of... blech! Lo and behold, what I discovered was uncommonly good company! Before I knew it, the conversation had swept me up in its ever lovin' arms of Southern hospitality, hearty laughter and a brief history of absolutely everybody's sordid past. Two drinks had me stumbling to pick up my carryout... and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face even after the last piece of Triple Delight medium spicy was gone! Interior decorating may be much too highly over-rated.

ooooh, goody, BAR reviews! Forget the food, just tell us where the boozy hideaways are! Other than the Count's "garden shack," of course.

That one has a better sound quality. But if you check this one out- I think Miss Vero is in it. You'll know who I mean- she's the one in the background doing her own thing. ;-)
